About Us

United Way, a registered charitable organization, has been a part of Cambridge and North Dumfries since 1940. We work in partnership with community agencies giving hope and building the abilities of individuals, families and the community, while also targeting the root causes of community issues.

We provide leadership and support to the non-profit sector and connect community members to find long-term solutions to the issues that affect us most. Through community partnerships, our experienced employees and volunteers look for gaps and opportunities in services and invest in a combination of programs that will have the greatest impact in the most effective way. We’ve done the research, listened to the community, and determined community priorities that will guide our investments with partner agencies.

We are committed to building a community where:

Children and youth reach their potential

Families are strong

Neighbourhoods are inclusive and thriving

Newcomers are welcomed and supported

People are economically secure

United Way funded programs and services meet immediate needs, such as food, clothing and shelter for people, but also help with long-term needs through supports like life skills development and counseling.

Thank you for your donations of money and time. Through the support of more than 850 volunteers and 8,000 donors in Cambridge and North Dumfries, United Way is continuing to improve lives and strengthen our community.

In 2010, United Way raised $2.683 million to help people in Cambridge and North Dumfries lead healthier lives, build safer homes and neighbourhoods, become self-sufficient, and give our children and youth opportunities for a brighter tomorrow.

United Way is a solid investment in your community. It’s an efficient and effective organization making sure your investment counts.

We are a member of the United Way of Canada.
