The Volunteer Recognition Dinner provides an opportunity for agencies and organizations to recognize volunteers that have contributed to their organization. The dinner takes place each year during National Volunteer Week (April 15 to 21, 2012) and guests enjoy a wonderful dinner, entertainment and are individually recognized for their volunteer contributions. The 2012 dinner will be held on Thursday, April 19; stay tuned for more details.

The Volunteer Recognition Gift Program provides agencies with the opportunity to order a variety of gifts for their volunteers, which will be delivered to their respective agencies just before National Volunteer Week.  The 2012 Gift Package will be available in early winter, so stay tuned.

We also celebrate International Volunteer Manager Day on November 5, and International Volunteer Day on December 5, each year.

ChangeTheWorld: Ontario Youth Challenge is a provincial initative of the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration, implemented at Volunteer Centres all over Ontario. The aim is to encourage high-school aged youth to volunteer for 3 hours between a 3-week period, with an ultimate goal of getting 10,000 youth to volunteer and log their hours toward a provincial total.  In 2011, 14,922 young people volunteered 69,845 hours! That’s an increase of 24% in youth participants and 40% in volunteer hours over the 2010 campaign!  The 2012 Challenge is scheduled for April 15 to May 6; stay tuned for more details!
