LIVE UNITED through volunteering

Volunteer Cambridge, a service of the United Way of Cambridge and North Dumfries, hosted a Volunteer Fair on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at the Cambridge Centre.

Non-profit organizations from the community were present and actively recruiting volunteers for positions in Cambridge, North Dumfries and the greater Waterloo Region. Visitors picked up a passport to talk to at least 6 organizations and entered a draw for a chance to win a prize.

Participating organizations in 2010 were Alison Neighbourhood Community Centre, Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank, Community Living Cambridge, Community Support Connections, Family and Children’s Services of Waterloo Region, Friendly Visiting Program, Greenway Chaplin Community Centre, Hospice of Waterloo Region, Kinbridge Community Association, Pride Stables, and St. John Ambulance.

"Volunteer fairs are a great chance for both youth and adults to come out and speak directly to the Volunteer Coordinators from the agencies about their respective opportunities” said Sarah Daly, Facilitator of Community and Voluntary Sector Investment.  “Individuals can ask specific questions and determine if volunteering for that agency will be a good fit.
