Volunteer Recognition Dinner
The Recogntion Dinner takes place in April, during National Volunteer Week. Invitations are extended to approximately 100 agencies with 90+ volunteers and agency staff from the City and Township attending.
Volunteer Cambridge Kiosks
These Kiosks promote the benefits of volunteering and recruit for specific volunteer opportunities that are available at local agencies. They are placed at the Cambridge Centre in October and January; Conestoga College in Sepember and January; and at the University of Waterloo in January.
Volunteer Cambridge Fairs
Volunteer Cambridge coordinates a volunteer fair in September at the Cambridge Centre Mall which allows various local agencies to recruit volunteers. Volunteer Cambridge, in partnership with Glenview Park, hosts a volunteer fair at the high school to allow various local agencies to recruit volunteers.
Appreciation Certficates and Gifts
Personalized volunteer appreciation certificates are complimented by a locally crafterd volunteer medallion which agencies are able to purchase for their volunteers through Volunteer Cambridge. These are delivered to the agencies for presentation during National Volunteer Week in April.
Appreciation Post Cards
Agencies are welcome to purchase personalized volunteer post cards for their volunteers. Volunteer Cambridge makes these available to agencies for presentation during National Volunteer Week in April.
Youth Volunteer Challenge
Over 500 high school students participate in the Challenge which is an initiative of the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration to engage 10,000 Ontario youth in volunteer activities during a 3-week period which includes National Volunteer Week. The specific project for Cambridge consists of working with secondary schools and community agencies to "put a face on youth volunteering". We work with a committee of youth champions who run a campaign in their respective schools or agencies during the 3-week period. Youth are encouraged to document their volunteer pursuits, either via camera or short video statements. These will showcase our youths views on volunteering, what types of opportunities are meaningful to them, and, how the LIVE UNITED. A promotional video using both the photos and video clips is posted on our website on on YouTube.
Workshops Hosted by Volunteer Cambridge
Invitations are extended to 100 local agencies for workshops which are conducted 4 times annually. Workshop topics include: volunteer recruitment and management; the essentials of volunteering on non-profit boards; and non-profit management. Many workshops are offered in partnership with the Volunteer Action Centres of Kitchener-Waterloo and Guelph-Wellington.
