Volunteer Cambridge is a service of United Way of Cambridge and North Dumfries, and is part of the Community Investment Division. Volunteer Cambridge is the external brand name used to represent the Voluntary Sector Resources unit.
Volunteer Cambridge aims to promote volunteerism and the capacity of the local voluntary sector.
Through it’s recruitment and referral services, Volunteer Cambridge strives to act as a conduit between residents looking to volunteer and agencies and organizations in the sector that have those volunteer opportunities. Using a varied approach which includes:
an on-line volunteer database
use of the media
volunteer and school fairs
phone, walk-in and online referrals

We promote these opportunities to the community at large. The strength in this approach is that Volunteer Cambridge coordinates all these efforts on behalf of, and in collaboration with the agencies and organizations that we serve, in hopes of providing a stream lined approach within the community.
Volunteer Cambridge acknowledges the importance of recognizing volunteers. Throughout the year, we organize a variety of volunteer recognition events that are designed with specific audiences in mind. Our hope is that agencies and organizations in the sector will take advantage of these events with some of their volunteers as part of their own volunteer recognition programs.
Volunteerism is critical to the success of the voluntary sector. Promoting volunteerism and its value is an important service of Volunteer Cambridge. Through special events, the media and promotional materials we will continue to promote volunteerism and its value in our community.
Volunteer Cambridge strives to provide opportunities for learning and organizational development in order to support the capacity of the voluntary sector. Through a variety of services including workshops, consultations, information sharing and a resource library, we hope to provide valuable learning opportunities for staff and volunteers in the sector.
