Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteering is an integral and significant part of our way of life. People’s reasons for volunteering range widely and might include; skill development, giving back to the community, a chance to use their knowledge, as a way to meet people or simply because it’s fun. Volunteer opportunities range as well from short term to long term, in terms of duties and tasks, locations and skills that are required. One thing stays true, and that is that volunteering is critical to the work that can and is achieved in our local non-profit sector.
Volunteer Cambridge strives to put potential volunteers in touch with agencies and organizations in our community who have those volunteer opportunities. Through a varied approach we connect these two groups.
Search our online database for all the opportunities that exist in Cambridge and North Dumfries. Once in the database, you can do a detailed search by starting at Search step 1, you can search by area of interest, organization or simply check out what’s new since the last time you visited. When you find an opportunity that interests you, contact the organization directly using the information provided or simply click on the “Yes, I’d like to volunteer” button. Once you’ve filled out the information, an e-mail will be sent directly to the volunteer manager at that agency and they will then connect with you.
View our weekly volunteer postings. This is a list of our most current volunteer opportunities and is a quick and easy way to search those opportunities. The list is widely circulated to our stakeholders in the community. If needed, this list can be printed and distributed. If you are interested in any of these opportunities, you can contact the organizations directly using the information provided.
Through support from our local media, volunteer opportunities are listed weekly in several newspapers. Check The Record each Wednesday and The Cambridge Times each Friday for a highlight of opportunities that are available.
Throughout the year, Volunteer Cambridge hosts a variety of volunteer and school fairs in our community. The goal of these is to provide a venue where community residents who are looking for volunteer opportunities and agencies and organizations who are looking for volunteers can connect.
If you prefer to connect with our staff, you can phone or drop by our office during regular office hours. We can then spend time with you and assist in finding the opportunity that is right for you.
